About the role:
As a PR Manager you will be responsible for amplifying the voice of the Skin + `Me brand and maximising brand awareness through traditional and digital PR activations.
The ideal candidate lives for new and exciting opportunities to tell the brand story, knowing what beauty journalists love, what drives the skincare market and what makes the UK consumer base shop — all while prioritising brand integrity.
They have a full understanding, respect and appreciation of the customer, and use this to build a compelling communications strategy that inspires journalists at the gold-tier titles (consumer and trade) to share the Skin + `Me journey.
They possess a strong brand lens and can see PR as part of the larger marketing picture — with a full understanding of how to adapt strategy to meet business objectives.
They are both innovative and creative while constantly reviewing and analysing performance of output on activity to recommend and optimise in a fast-paced, reactive D2C business.
- Drive Skin + Me to achieve brand fame and an immaculate reputation via earned media across KOLs and press
- Lead the PR team (external agency and direct report) across all activations including: communications, events, brand and executive profile building; ensure that the Skin + Me story is brought to life consistently across all earned media channels
- Lead the PR team and function, briefing and approving all press materials; releases, campaigns and product sampling
- Build the strategic PR vision for Skin + Me (including future ventures), winning the hearts and minds of key stakeholders. Act as a key central touch point for information from internal stakeholders
- Work with agency partners to build the communication strategies for Skin + Me — ensuring key messages are shared with the key journalists and lead to coverage in gold tier publications
- Lead discussions and communication plans with key retail partners to receive PR support for exclusives and launches
- Strategize, newsworthy story angles led by Skin + Me business objectives and product launches, taking into consideration culturally relevant topics, consumer trends and data
- Oversee budget, set agency KPIs and produce coverage reports. Draw insights from data when planning annual spend to maximise coverage
- Work closely with internal spokespeople, to ensure press readiness, thorough briefings, background research, quote preparation and organisation of media coaching if needed
- Lead the team (internal and agency) on all planning and execution Skin + Me events
Who you are:
- Strong experience in PR and managing a team
- An effective communicator with experience managing upwards to senior leadership
- Excellent communications skills, and ability to present ideas and strategy with high impact
- Extremely organised. Ability to effectively manage timelines and coordinate internal and external teams to deliver results
- Previous experience operating in senior in-house PR position in the beauty industry (preferably in an entrepreneurial or start-up environment)
- Brand reputation and corporate comms experience
- A developed understanding of the beauty and skincare industry in the digital space
- Ability to work in a data driven environment and question ‘traditional PR practices’ to understand which activations drive value and know which levers to pull
- Experience working with senior stakeholders to drive spokesperson strategies
- Events management experience
